Dr. Shivajirao S. Kadam is presently Vice Chancellor of Bharati Vidyapeeth University and the Principal of Poona College of Pharmacy. Dr. Kadam, a well known person in the academic field, has been the Principal of Poona College of Pharmacy for the last 21 years. He has held many important positions in the University of Pune, such as Dean of Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Member of Management Council, Chairman of Board of Studies in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Member of Senate and Member of Academic Council for a number of years.

Dr. Kadam has played a pivotal role in involving the Pharmacy Industry in the collaborative activities with the college and started a manufacturing unit "Get Rid Pharmaceuticals", and also a Public Testing Laboratory in the college. This is his unique achievement because no other Pharmacy College has such a collaborative activity with the industry on the campus of the college.

Dr. Kadam has made tremendous contribution to higher education in conventional courses in general and professional courses in particular. Under his dynamic leadership, Poona College of Pharmacy has achieved a very high degree of excellence and is now one of the leading Pharmacy Colleges in India. The National Board of Accreditation has given 'A' Grade, which is the topmost honour, to the Poona College of Pharmacy.

Dr. Kadam is a recipient of many prestigious awards, including Vishesh Chikitsa Sewa Medal and Best Teacher Award in higher education from Maharashtra State Government. The most important distinction won by him is the "Pharmacy Educator Distinction" which was bestowed on him in the International Convention of Pharmacy Education in Bangalore in March 2002.
